Today I am holding my first official "Open House" for 5724 Wrenwood. Those who know me are very familiar with this name as it represents my first try at real estate improvement. I purchased this home as a foreclosure back in September and made quite a few improvements including a new, light colored roof to help conserve energy. Housing values in the Greensboro, Triad area have continued to decline over the past six months which has prompted me to reduce the original asking price. Today, Wrenwood is listed for $164,900 which is below the comps for this neighborhood. It is such a great ranch style home with many features: open floor plan, new paint and carpet, new designer light fixtures, new bath fixtures, and new appliances. The lot is large, private, and features a storage building in back as well as a gas powered generator. Come on out and see me today between 2:00 - 5:00.

Where is the positive news about this spring market? Just when we need a bit of optimism, the press decides to keep it a secret? What gives? My partner and I merchandised three showrooms, all who had brisk sales. I also helped out a New England representative in some of his accessory lines. We wrote good orders every day. Traffic was up, and they were there to BUY! To me this is a sign that we are lifting out of this slump, and I for one welcome it!

Many people who come to me seem skeptical at first about hiring a designer. What usually brings them to me is absolute frustration. They have attempted to do it themselves, have listened to friends and neighbors, watched many episodes of HGTVand still are not satisfied with the results. This can be a real challenge at this point because mistakes have usually been made, and I am being asked to "wave my wand" and make it all better. At this point money has already been wasted.
